Big Boi latest musician to branch out
Part-time Atlanta resident Elton John has composed musicals that have had mixed success on Broadway. "Lestat" closed within a month, "Aida" ran for 4-1/2 years, and "The Lion King" is still going strong in New York and in a national tour (it can currently be seen at the Civic Center). "Aida" and "The Lion King" also earned the pop star Tony Awards for best original musical score. His latest effort, "Billy Elliot: The Musical," opens in October. Deirdre Eitel / AP
