'Gone With the Wind' premiere in 1939
Boyd Lewis' handwritten caption reads: "The sun-washed alcove where Margaret Mitchell wrote 'Gone With the Wind' --- soon to be destroyed by vandalism and arson." Lewis was the last person to occupy "The Dump, " invited by the landlord to live in the empty building in 1977 as a deterrent to vandals. His photographs helped Margaret Mitchell House museum designers reconstruct details after most of the building burned. Boyd Lewis
