Postcards from grand Grant Park

Originally at Cherokee and Augusta Avenue, this grand entrance to the park was framed by two large resting lions (one seen here) and featured the original Cyclorama in Grant Park. This was the second building to house the famous oil painting 'The Battle of Atlanta.' Commissioned by former Union Gen. John A. Logan and completed in 1886 in Milwaukee, the painting traveled nationally before finding a permanent home in the Park.
