MTV turns 30 in 2011
'Real World' helped launch the reality TV era. It first aired in 1992. The concept of bringing a group of diverse strangers together to live in a house for several months proved to be a popular concept. Seen here is the season three cast, which took place in San Francisco. This season was one of the more memorable of the series because of cast member Pedro Zamora, seen here in black jacket on right, an openly gay AIDS activist who died shortly after the season aired.
