Columbus -- It was one of most memorable events I covered this year. The world's eyes focused on the execution of Troy Davis at it reached its final scene when he was put to death in prison. I spent that night with Anneliese MacPhail, the slain officer Mark Allen MacPhail's mother at her home in Columbus. I was lucky to be in the right place to document the historic moment. I was able to capture her reaction after hearing word that Davis would be executed on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Hyosub Shin hshin@ajc.com
