CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS: The prolific writer died at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston on Dec. 15, 2011, after a battle with esophageal cancer. Hitchens wrote and spoke about politics, religion, history, biography and literature. AP
