Penn State head coach Joe Paterno, college football's winningest coach, was dismissed after 46 years after child sex abuse charges surfaced against one of his longtime assistant coaches. Jerry Sandusky was indicted on 42 counts of child molestation dating from 1994 to 2009. The scandal resulted in the ouster of the university president and athletic director, and calls for reform and the protection of victims of sex abuse. AP
